2024-25* APPLICATION PROCEDURE AND ADMISSIONS INFORMATION

*for students applying for the 2024-25 school year


THE THREE EASY STEPS to Apply to Apply 

1.Submit a Completed Application using this application software.

Applications for the incoming freshman class are accepted beginning October 2, 2023. The early acceptance deadline is November 20, 2023. The regular acceptance deadline is February 6, 2024 and the deadline to participate in the lottery is March 22, 2024.

Form 2: Extracurricular Sheet
Form 3: Request for Transcripts and Discipline History (requested from your current school)
Forms 4a and 4b: Teacher Recommendations (requested from one MATH teacher and one OTHER ACADEMIC teacher)


2. Take a Math Exam and Submit an Essay

Applicants that meet minimum eligibility requirements (see below) are eligible to take a math exam and submit an essay (beginning late October). Students may schedule the exam and submit the essay through this online application account.


3. Participate in a Group Interview

Conducted remotely over video conferencing, the group interview’s purpose is to discover more about the applicant’s interests and abilities, as well as to allow the applicant to further understand the collaborative nature of IPoly. Students may schedule the interview through this online application account. 


ADMISSIONS INFORMATION

When to ApplyStudents may apply in 8th grade to start as freshmen. Transfer students that are currently in high school may apply year-round and are accepted as openings become available. Eligible students are admitted to IPoly within the first month of each semester.

Minimum Eligibility RequirementsMinimum eligibility requirements include a minimum cumulative academic grade point average for the current school year and one year prior of 2.5, acceptable discipline and attendance history, and favorable recommendation forms. Students that transfer in from other high schools must meet the UC A-G course requirements and have taken courses in alignment with IPoly’s graduation requirements.

Admissions Process: Applicants who complete the application process (including meeting eligibility requirements, receiving an acceptable score on the math exam, submitting an adequate essay, and successfully completing the group interview), will be considered by the IPoly admissions committee.

Admissions Timeline for Incoming Freshmen (early/regular acceptance and lottery):

Application for the 2024-25 school year is available: October 2, 2023

Entrance exam testing and interviewing begins: Mid-October, 2023
Application deadline for early acceptance: November 20, 2023

Early acceptance notifications begin: Mid-January, 2024
Application deadline for regular acceptance: February 6, 2024
Regular acceptance notifications begin: Late-March, 2024
Application deadline for late-April lottery drawing: March 22, 2024
Lottery notifications begin: Late-April, 2024


Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis after the lottery deadline. IPoly has a limited capacity of 136 students per grade level. Once spaces are full, students will be placed on a waiting list, which will be valid through the next school year. 


Students with Accommodations: If the student has an IEP and/or 504 plan and you would like accomodations during the entrance exam, please submit the documents to the admissions office and call to clarify accomodations request. For students who are accepted and eligible to receive Special Education Services, an IEP meeting will be held with IPoly staff and the student’s home district to determine placement and appropriate services needed for student success. If a student is eligible for 504 accommodations, please submit documentation upon acceptance.

Ongoing Report Card RequestAfter submitting the application, parents are asked to submit semester report cards as they become available, with the final report card submitted no later than June 30th. This verifies the applicant’s GPA is still meeting our minimum requirements.

Final EvaluationAfter a student is accepted, a final evaluation will be completed. IPoly reserves the right to withdraw an offer to any student should significant academic or disciplinary problems arise, whereby the student no longer meets IPoly eligibility requirements.

Enrollment PolicyIPoly students enroll in college preparatory coursework, commonly known as the A-G course sequence. Every graduate is required to complete the A-G course sequence in order to receive a diploma (LACOE Resolution No. 14:2005-2006). IPoly students who are at risk of not passing the required A-G coursework while enrolled at IPoly may be sent back to their local school district.

Sibling Priority Enrollment: Siblings of currently enrolled students are given priority status in our admissions process in the case of a waiting list. This is done as a courtesy to families, and to assist in transportation. Siblings must still meet entrance requirement qualifications and pass the entrance exam.

Nondiscrimination PolicyIPoly High School is administered by Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), and carefully adheres to LACOE’s non-discriminatory policy. LACOE programs and activities shall be free from discrimination, including harassment, with respect to a student’s race, color, ancestry, national origin, ethnicity, ethnic group identification, citizenship status, immigration status, age, religion, marital or parental status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, or genetic information; the perception of one or more of such characteristics; or association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics. LACOE Board Policy 5145.3(a)

Attend an Information SessionStudents and families are encouraged to attend an information session to learn more about IPoly’s innovative program. While not required, these interactive sessions are highly recommended to understand the advantages of choosing IPoly.
